The challenges with Liberty of London, who refused to allow Ann Fuller to use their fabrics for other retailers, resulted in a spurt of creative energy. One product of this was the clown theme, seen here in new Soiree Nouveaute fabric, which became a signature of the range.
The jack-in-a-box was one of many uses of the new fabric, which included dolls, bookends, mirrors, baskets and many others (below).
